Working under pressure just seems to have a way of finding me and I have grown to embrace it. Hosting the National Stakeholders Forum on the 2023 General Elections is one of the highlights of my work this year. The MC went MIA last minute, the queen of the mic stepped in and it’s safe to say the rest was history. Happy election stakeholders, happy partner organisations, happy media and happy me. Working for the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) for the 2022 Osun State Governorship Election was incredible. As an accredited domestic election observer heading the communications for the Situation Room, I went out to gather reports and pictures of the election environment whenever I wasn’t occupied at the command centre. For the Osun State elections, it appears the people’s will prevailed. A credible election leads to a good government and satisfied citizens, although more work has to be done in Nigerian elections.
He called, I answered… Abuja’s No.1 Gospel DJ, DJ Ernesty, said to me, “Edima, I’m organising the first ever ‘Praise Rave’ and I’d like you to host the interview segment”. I could never say no to a man who has distinguished himself in the Christiandom and paved way for gospel DJing in Nigeria; a career spanning over 10 years. I certainly had to do this and it was totally awesome!
After six years on radio, I graciously took a bow from broadcast media as an On Air Personality (OAP). During my time with the biggest media brand in Nigeria, ‘Cool Wazobia Info FMs’, I hosted the Good Morning Nigeria Show, the Road Show and the Saturday Night Show, all of which had very high show ratings. On this platform, I conducted several high profile interviews, attended every important event in Abuja and best of all, impacted millions of lives. I’m popularly asked, ‘Will you ever be on radio again?’… Well, never say never. *wink*
